ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a novel sinusoidal oscillator using a current differencing transconductance amplifier(CDTA) and four passive components. The proposed oscillator provides independent control of the oscillation frequency by using a resistor without disturbing the oscillation condition, and exhibits desirable active and passive sensitivities. This study proposes an improved topology using a current-controlled current differencing transconductance amplifier (CCCDTA) instead of a CDTA, which features independent control and an electronic tunable property for the oscillation condition and oscillation frequency, and reduces the number of required passive components. Both of the proposed circuits are mixed-mode sinusoidal oscillators. A prototype circuit was built using commercial integrated circuits and discrete components to execute experimental tests. The HSPICE circuit simulations and experimental results were consistent with the theoretical analysis.
